"What we become depends on what we read after all the professors have finished with us. The greatest university of all is the collection of books." -Thomas Carlyle
The Gould family recently joined the UCF family by making several gifts to the Library. First, they gave a sizable collection of books that focus on the study of law throughout all 50 states. Once processed, this collection will be named "The Gould Family Library for Criminal Justice and Legal Studies." This outstanding collection will further enhance the learning opportunities for the UCF students pursuing degrees in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies.
In addition to the collection of books, a financial gift was made to assist the Library in processing the collection. Philanthropic support such as this enables the Libraries to process the collection quickly; therefore, ensuring it is readily accessible to students, faculty, staff and area residents.
"An ordinary man can surround himself with two thousand books and thenceforward have at least one place in the world in which it is possible to be happy." - Augustine Birrell
John was involved with the UCF Libraries for many years, not only as a donor, but as a volunteer as well. His interest in the Libraries resulted in generous annual philanthropic support from the Lois Holt Foundation, including a scholarship for Libraries student assistants. John passed away early in 2006, but he leaves a legacy of service and giving that will forever be a part of the UCF Libraries.
